DUTCHESS COUNTY -
"REBUILDING TOGETHER WITH CHRISTMAS IN APRIL"
"Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April" is beginning its 16th year of providing home repair assistance for low-income, elderly, or disabled homeowners who need repairs around the house that they may not be able to make or afford on their own. Small jobs and large projects are accepted. Community sponsors provide the materials, and volunteers provide the labor ... so there are no costs to the homeowner.
The program's 2007 service area will reach out to thirteen communities, including the Town and Village of Pawling. The goal is to help rebuild the community, one house at a time. In it's first 15 years, "Rebuilding Together" has helped to rehabilitate 265 homes throughout Dutchess County with over $2,500,000 in repairs, thanks to the 8,610 volunteers who donated over 86,100 man-hours.
If you think you qualify, or if you know someone who may, we encourage you to begin the process immediately. It takes time to process the applications, visit the homes, and plan the projects, so please do not delay. Applications are available through the Town of Pawling Building Department located in the Town Hall at 160 Charles Colman Blvd., Pawling, NY. You can also obtain an application by calling the Rebuilding Together office at 454-7310, weekdays between 9:00am and 3:00pm.
FOR MORE INFORMATION pertaining to this program, please read the Dutchess County, July 28, 2006, Press Release.
